Science Topics

  • Flow kinematics, vorticity, irrotational flow
  • Navier-Stokes equations and special cases (Boussinesq approximation, ideal flow, etc)
  • Bernoulli's theorem
  • Viscous flow, low Reynolds number
  • Euler equations, compressible flow at high Reynolds number, turbulence
  • Applications to aerodynamics, water waves, pipe flow, astrophysics

    • Term project (15%). The project will involve an experimental component as well as setup, run and evaluate a computer simulation using the COMSOL software
