## Syllabus

**Science Topics**

- Flow kinematics, vorticity, irrotational flow
- Navier-Stokes equations and special cases (Boussinesq approximation, ideal flow, etc)
- Bernoulli's theorem
- Viscous flow, low Reynolds number
- Euler equations, compressible flow at high Reynolds number, turbulence
- Applications to aerodynamics, water waves, pipe flow, astrophysics

- Simulations, theory, experiment - the concept of understanding and modeling physics processes

**Grades**

- Final exam (37%)
- Mid term (20%)
- 5 Assignments (28%)

- Term project (15%). The project will involve an experimental component as well as setup, run and evaluate a computer simulation using the COMSOL software
